Admin Code of Conduct
These are the specific rules for admins and admining. Admins are expected to know and follow these rules to the best of their ability.
The Golden Rule: Set an example for the community. As an admin you are a community leader, its important that you follow the rules, be a positive influence on those around you, and don’t fuel negativity.
Ahelps and admining
1. Do Not Moderate Situations You Are Involved In.
If you are involved in a situation, whether someone ahelps you, you ahelp them, or you played any part in the incident, you cannot participate in handling it on the admin side. Being involved creates a conflict of interest and risks unfair moderation.
2. Deescalate and Be Professional. Don’t Assume, Verify.
As an admin you represent the server and those in it, you are expected to present in a calm and professional manner within ahelps, and come to an understanding resolution when possible.
Additionally, you are expected to measure twice and cut once when dealing with people in ahelps. Do not accuse or reprimand anyone unless you are certain they have violated a rule (though you may ask them questions to gain more context on a situation). You have access to a log of everything that happens, as well as a replay, make use of them to figure out situations rather than making assumptions.
3. Follow Admin Policy.
On occasion other policies will be enacted by the admin team, you are expected to know and follow them.
4. Do Not Admin While You Are Playing.
This can easily create conflicts of interest, as well as inhibit the ability to answer ahelps effectively as you’re tied up in the round.
5. Real Life Comes First.
As an admin, there is no minimum time requirement. You’re allowed to admin whenever you’d like; However, we ask that you be healthy and take care of yourself in real life, and not neglect your responsibilities or mental health in order to admin. Don’t feel pressured to keep a session going just because you’re the only available admin, if you need to leave then do so.
6. Scheduling.
Although you are allowed to host whenever you like, However we ask that you collaborate with other people in the scheduling thread so that admins, maintainers, and players alike can schedule and plan their week easier.
We usually don’t host more than 5 days a week, and prioritize American times to prevent burnout both for players and admins. We tend to limit the amount of times a week we host in European times (which is earlier in the day for Americans) because it tends to put more pressure on the admins to host for a longer day. Additionally, we tend to get the best player turnout during American times.
