Section 7: Crew

7.1 Try not to engage in tasks that do not fall under the purview of your job. Doing something in a pinch is alright, and so is helping out someone that you see is struggling a bit. But otherwise, let each role do their job.

  • Exceptions can be made for emergencies, and during severe personnel shortages in a department.

7.2 Do not validhunt. It’s okay to help security if they’re understaffed or the situation calls for it, but under normal circumstances you should not be seeking out conflict with antags.

  • You may assist security in fighting threats which threaten the whole station, so long as you are not abandoning your role unreasonably.

7.3 Do not join the round as a role that you don’t intend to play. Do not enable antagonist roles that you don’t intend to play.

7.4 As a Command or Security member, you are expected to uphold the integrity of the station and follow Space Law.

7.5 As command, do not needlessly punish your staff. Firings and demotions are highly disruptive to the round, and generally serve to shut down roleplay opportunities for the demoted party. As such, demotions should be considered a last resort and should only be invoked in cases where staff abuses the access/equipment of their department or where they are intentionally sabotaging their own department.

Acceptable:

  • the Chief Engineer demoting an engineer who tried to loose the singulo/tesla
  • the Research Director demoting a scientist who’s blown up medical with the same artifact multiple times
  • the Head of Personnel demoting a chef who butchered crew and made burgers out of their flesh
  • the Chief Medical Officer demoting a chemist who’s poisoned the chems repeatedly and intentionally during the shift

Unacceptable:

  • the Chief Engineer demoting an engineer for stealing random people’s PDAs
  • the Research Director demoting a scientist for trying to kill the chemist with an e-sword
  • the Head of Security demoting the warden for giving lower sentences than the HoS prefers
  • the Head of Security demoting someone from another department
  • the Captain demoting the Chief Medical Officer for exclusively treating patients via Cryo tube
